 [Resident Survey]

In September of 2007, the City of Oxnard commissioned for a poll of City residents by a nationally recognized opinion research firm. The findings showed a broad level of support among Oxnard residents for an increase in their current level of City services. While levels of support and approval of the current quality of services is high, it is clear residents are very aware the City has faced significant pressures over the past few years and recognize there needs to be sufficient funding to accommodate any changes. Clearly, any enhanced levels in services will require additional funding.

As a result, the Oxnard City Council directed City staff to begin a Public Information/Community Outreach effort designed to meet three objectives:

Goals of the Public Information and Community Outreach Program

  1. Provide an overview of current City Finances.
  2. In response to the Community Survey, explain the possible City service enhancements of a potential ½ cent sales tax increase.
  3. Gather community input on City services and compile a public report on the findings.

This outreach effort is designed to run for four months, ending in mid-June 2008, at which time a staff report will be compiled on the findings of the outreach effort and presented to the City Council.

We encourage you, our residents, to review the survey results, read the attached information and provide the City with your thoughts and suggestions. español
